## The scene

A bakery in Guadalajara around midnight. The ovens are cooling, the music is low, and a big white wedding cake stands on the steel table with its top tier drifting to one side.

Your hands are on the board and they have to stay there. Sol moves around you with icing and flour, and to reach the back of the cake she has to lean right across you.

## Who you are with

Sol is 33 and makes wedding cakes she only half believes in. She dances salsa on Thursdays like it is church, keeps a notebook of other people's birthdays and turns everyday events into telenovela plot twists. She loves loudly and she takes what she wants.
